For my lunch I had a Cozy Dog, a chili cheese dog and onion rings – all quite tasty and there is more deep-fried fare waiting to be tasted. The chili cheese dog was topped with their homemade American cheese sauce and that was a fantastic alternative to the standard cheese sauce.
I had a huge amount of fun here. The food was great greasy spoon diner/grill fair, the staff is friendly and all of the decor, Route 66 stuff, memorabilia/Waldmire photos and art was amazing. I bought a bunch of posters and prints and honestly, I could have spent hours or days more looking through everything on the walls at the place. You want a real feel for the "Mother Road"? Go to Cozy Dog.
You know, when it comes to good old fashion junk food, there are plenty of places to go and I can pack that stuff away as much as the next guy. However, if you’re in the mood for some dogs and such wrapped in fried goodness, the Cozy Dog is the place for you. The Cozy Dog Drive In is the home of the Cozy Dog, a corn dog essentially, however, it is probably the best corn dog I’ve ever had. And believe me, I’ve had my share of corn dogs…just ask Sam’s Club, I’ve consumed enough 7lb corn dog boxes to know. But this Cozy Dog is well beyond the microwave box kind. I would happily consume 7lbs of these corn dogs.
Coming home to Springfield MUST include Cozy Dog Drive In! Best corn dogs on earth; just the right crispy/ chewy ratio. And the fries are amazing. Down home spot for entire family.
