Financial aid department is the worst. Horrible with students. I hope they replace advisors.
While I am impressed with the University from the student's standpoint, I am very frustrated with the finance office. This department's approach is disorganized, confusing, and takes way too long. In some instances you have to "fax" documents to them. (2017?) Their website is confusing and cumbersome in comparison. One of the documents that was faxed from our bank to this department was "misplaced" which is completely unacceptable given the information contained. Our bank said that they did fax the document as instructed. They were correct. The finance department misplaced it and then found it in a stack of other paperwork a week later. The website for UIS is overwhelming and ineffective. The standard for a good web experience is a three click rule. That doesn't apply to this website at all. Again, I believe the education and student experience is probably as good or better than other Universities. The way they interact in the finance department needs a complete overhaul.
The instructors were great but the administration is horrible. It's very difficult to understand how much online classes will cost and they're very overpriced for what you get.
The education isn't the worst... but, it seems unstable. It was constantly experiencing the kind of changes in staff a university should not have to experience.
Hard to contact. Would not recommend.
