The five stars are not because of the place being really fancy. The five stars are for the owner and his team. Many of his staff members have been with him for years which says a ton. The food is always good and at a fair price. The lunch buffet is one of my favorites in town. Good people, good food, in a classic environment, housed in a historic building.
Food was delicious. Service was impeccable. Price was very good for what all we got. Was the perfect birthday dinner.
My husband and I have always loved this restaurant. He is retired from Illinois Air National Guard and we used to go here quite often. But since his retirement from the Guard in 2009 we have not been able to. It was a 3 hour drive and now we live in Wisconsin, an almost 6 hour drive. We had a chance this weekend. The food was amazing, as usual and the service was the best. The only thing missing was the key lime pie. They were out. I wish we lived closer so we could enjoy more often.
I have to say I have been going here for awhile and one of my favorite places. I found my steak under cooked and the stuffed mushrooms were cool in the center.:(
Excellent food. Go early or make reservations, thus place fills up quick and for good reason. Worth the wait
