I'll never bring my dogs here again as they labeled my male aggressive. He is not aggressive, he is reactive, and I am disappointed that they did not see fit to even tell me when they placed this label on his permanent file while he was still a PUPPY. They also turned us away when our female had a terrible infection and told us they could see us in three days. However, the vets themselves are all wonderful, and I was able to get an appointment for my cat to see a tech for a gland expression (our regular vets don't allow this service) so we will continue to utilize them for simple procedures as needed.
I'm not a fan. I took my cat here twice and felt like i was getting the run around and wasting my money. After the first round of anti biotics we knew it wasn't viral but my ideas were carefully dismissed. The staff are nice and so were the vets but i just felt like i wasn't being heard. Turns out when i took my cat somewhere else i was right, it was allergies. I understand things like that are difficult to diagnose but at least consider what the pet owner has to say.
Staff is very helpful and veterinary doctors are more than willing to assist in caring for your pets. I have observed that many times the staff push unnecessary test to increase the overall bill. Usually a simple visit will end up to be $200 - $600 per visit per animal. Indicates that it's sister Clinic is Coble Animal Hospital but has very minimal communication and no cross-referencing between the two.
We are new to Sangamon Avenue Vet and are very pleased so far. Dr. Smith saw us last minute for an emergency and stayed late to operate on our dog. She was professional and very respectful as I discussed options and finances with my husband via phone. I am very pleased so far and to top it off, they even trim their client dog's nails for free! Bonus!
