Wonderful and of utmost importance. Great park rangers that take the time to know they really care about what they do, who they are and who you are. Even went so far as to give a one on one tour of his house after my daughter had some struggles.
Great place to visit. The Park Rangers have done an excellent job of restoring and preserving the Home and surrounding house. It is like stepping back in time. They are very knowledgeable about all things related to Lincoln's time here in Springfield!
Great experience and educative. I wad only able to spend most of the day in the area but to get a good understanding and appreciation of everything, you may want to consider spending a few days at least to see everything. The is so much more so I will have to come back when I can dedicate at least a few days to get a better appreciation for President Lincoln and those of that time in history.
Most buildings are preserved to retain historical accuracy. Gift-shop is well maintained and organized. Streets are made of gravel, so wear good walking shoes. They offer free tours every 5 minutes during open hours. Make sure to reserve a free ticket inside the Visitor Center.
Air conditioning is a nice touch, even though they didn't have central air back then.
The park was far more than I expected. The National Park Service has restored the central area of a four block square. Houses around the area are also time period. Many furnishings in the Lincoln house are original. The rangers were informative. Great tour and great experience.
