Needless to say, we did not get our deposit back after having had to move for safety reasons.
Within 2 weeks, our mail began getting stolen because of the broken mailboxes that garnish the dirty hallway; first they stole a Christmas card with $50, then stole a credit card and charged up a $550 bill, now my credit is jeopardy because Steve refused to fix the locks on the mailbox.
320 E. Canedy St., a Morrison Properties LLC located in Springfield, IL., has no security doors & the neighborhood is a drug ravaged demilitarized zone, the apartment was dirty when we moved in and it had narcotics from the previous tenant in one of the kitchen drawers, there was also rotting food in the bottom of the stove; when we called maintenance, they asked if we had any cleaner & if we could clean it up.
This was a terrible & financially crippling experience, I would definitely consider another property if I had to do it all over again.
Drug deals & domestic violence are the hallmark of Steve's properties; we had the cops over for a domestic at 3:30 am on a Tuesday then 17 hrs later they were back, this time in an unmarked Lexus and out of uniform, to make a drug bust on the NEIGHBORS IN THE BUILDING. Don't believe the "We don't tolerate riff-raff" line they give you when you move in; your safety comes second to their money.
If you go to their Face Book page you'll notice from the pictures that the 320 address has baseboard heaters only; when we moved in only one of the baseboard heaters in one of the bedrooms worked, I had to go purchase my own space heaters because maintenance wouldn't come fix them. The outside of the building is littered with garbage and plastic baggies with the corners ripped out of them & VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE PARKED HERE, my truck was broke into in the first week I was there.
These are nice, personable, and trustworthy people. Leza and Seth are both very responsive and attentive to tenants' needs, and they have created a safe and respectful environment of in the little downtown apartment complex we lived in. Leza is a good friend of my next door neighbor and stops by once a week; Seth is always working around the neighborhood. My friend rented in another apartment complex and had an equally positive experience. They are very fair and straightforward with the deposit-- zero hidden schemes , plus a little kindness to go with it. They also have some power to make decisions on their own, so that makes the whole process a lot more humane and personable. Overall, I cannot ask for more from a rental agency.
When we go to the police to make reports on activity & when we purchased renters insurance we were warned by both that the neighborhood was bad & the insurance agent stated that he had already had claims from the address before.

We have had nothing but professional, friendly, and accommodating service from this company. We only moved because we located a property of our own that we were able to purchase. Our experience has been excellent, any repairs needed were provided swiftly and without any hassle. I highly recommend Morrison Properties, LLC to anyone who is seeking to rent in the area.
